What is furio colombo?

Furio Colombo was an Italian journalist, writer, and politician born on February 27, 1938, in Milan, Italy. He began his journalistic career in 1961 at Il Giorno, a Milan-based newspaper, and later joined Il Mondo, one of the most important political and cultural weeklies in post-war Italy. He was also a contributor to La Repubblica, a prominent Italian daily newspaper. Colombo was a correspondent in many countries all over the world, and his reports dealt mainly with international political topics.

In addition to journalism, Colombo also served as a member of the European Parliament from 1994 to 1999, representing the progressive Olive Tree alliance in Lombardy. He was also a member of the Italian Parliament for the Democratic Party, serving as vice-president of the Foreign Affairs Committee.

Colombo authored several books on politics and journalism. Some of his famous works include "Cronache dalla America" (Chronicles from America), "Cosmopoliti: un'affascinante avventura intellettuale che attraversa Europa e America" (Cosmopolites: An intellectual adventure that crosses Europe and America), and "In Cammino con Papa Francesco" (On the Road with Pope Francis).

Colombo passed away on May 15, 2021, in Milan, Italy, at the age of 83.
